ABOUT MONTY

Monty began his golfing journey aged 15. Having represented his County at both Cricket and Hockey, Monty possessed a natural sporting ability which helped reduced his handicap from 28 to Scratch by the time he was 18.

After leaving school with A-level grades of A*AA in Economics, French and Drama, Monty spent much of his gap year working, practicing and competing at County, National and International level.

Monty’s biggest development came during his 3 years at the University of Exeter where he received numerous scholarships and captained the 1st team for 2 years. In his final year, Monty finished 2nd in the BUCS Order or Merit capping off a fine University career where he was awarded honours for his contribution to Exeter Sport. Monty graduated in 2018 with a 2:1 in Business Management.

Following his graduation, Monty decided to pursue his passion for golf, playing a full international schedule in 2019 where he missed only 1 cut and recorded numerous top 10 finishes. Hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Monty resumed a full schedule in 2021 where he recorded his most notable finish on the Amateur schedule, finishing Runner-Up in the R&A Amateur Championship at Nairn Golf Club. Narrowly missing out on the 2nd playoff hole of the 36 hole match play final, Monty was awarded lifetime honorary membership at Nairn for his efforts.

In 2022, Monty won the Emirates Amateur Championship at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, earning him an invite into the Ras Al Khaimah Championship on the DP World Tour. Despite missing the cut, Monty had some good finishes throughout the year which cemented his decision to turn professional in October ‘22. He was signed by Ally Mellor from Hype Sports Management shortly after. Successfully qualifying through first and final stage in November, Monty secured his playing rights on the Alps Tour for the 2023 Season where he will be competing this year.
